Learning Our Multiplication & Division Facts

Knowledge is important.  Mathematics is based on knowing.  We need to retrieve knowledge quickly when solving problems.  Therefore knowledge ENABLES and lack of it DISABLES.  Knowledge is important because using knowledge can decrease the load on the working memory and enable students to solve more complex number problems.  What multiplication & division facts the children should know...
Y4 - 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x & 10x ( multiply & divide)
Y3 - 2x,  5x & 10x ( multiply & divide)
Keep going if you know theses.

White Ribbon Ride 2014

The White Ribbon Ride is New Zealand’s most exciting initiative to tackling this country’s crippling domestic violence record. Violence destroys families, sets our children on a destructive journey and affects one in three women. This week-long motorcycle tour happens every November – White Ribbon Month, and is a powerful and inspirational voyage for all involved. Today they were at Wanaka Primary School with an anti bullying message for our children.

Ancient Egyptian Gods

Here are some of the important Gods & Goddesses.  There were more than 2000 gods & Goddesses altogether.  Imagine remembering that many!
Osiris
A mummified man (wrapped in bandages) wearing a white cone-like headdress with feathers.  Osiris was the god of the dead, and ruler of the underworld.
Horus
A man with the head of a hawk, Horus was a god of the sky and is probably most well known as the protector of the ruler of Egypt.
Anubis
A man with a jackal (wild dog) head, Anubis was the God of the dead.  Since jackals were often seen in cemeteries, the ancient Egyptians believed that Anubis watched over the dead.
Ra
A man with hawk headdress with a sun disk, Ra was the sun god and was the most important god of the ancient Egyptians.
Hathor
A woman with the ears of a cow and a headdress of horns and a sun disk, Hathor was a protective goddess; she was also the Goddess of love and joy.
Isis
A woman with a headdress in the shape of a throne, Isis was the Goddess of Crafts.  Isis was a protective Goddess who used powerful magic spells to help people in need.
